ABOUT MEEnglish and Spanish TeacherI have been a teacher for 18 years. The majority of my teaching experience has been in English and Spanish Language. I was hired fresh out of college 18 years ago to be a Special Education teacher at our local school. I was thrilled to have a job, especially so close to home. But this required me to return to college, more specifically night school, to obtain a degree in Special Education to keep a position at the local high school. I taught special needs for five years within the resource classroom teaching English and Mathematics (go figure). I was a fairly adequate special needs teacher, however, this was not my passion, this was not my love. I went to college initially to be a Spanish and English teacher, not a Special Education teacher and though I was working close to home, I was not happy. I had to leave my hometown in order to teach Spanish and English in the regular education setting. And so I went to work in a neighboring county in order to pursue teaching in the areas I majored and minored in at college. I have learned and grown a lot as a teacher. I've learned through trial and error through my years of teaching. I love my students and enjoy what I do. For the most part it has been a very rewarding career.
